We ran into the gorgeous and gracious Teairra Mari at the BET Awards on Sunday and had to chat up the babe about her notorious close bud Chris B.
“He’s sorry,” Teairra tells the A.T. “That’s my friend, and I love Chris. He’s a good kid—he just made a mistake. He knows that and feels terrible about it.”
Sure, but how are his fans going to know he’s actually sorry and be able forgive him?
“I think [Chris] needs to talk about everything on his new album. He needs to make that album very personal and just address the situation. I’ve told him that, and I think he’ll do it.”
So will he address the situation sooner than that, we wonder?
“I just know Chris will, in an honest way, when he’s ready.“

SocialiteLife:  Conspicuously absent from last weekend’s BET Awards was Chris Brown, who recently went to court for charges related to his altercation with his ex-girlfriend, Rihanna. However, a source from inside the awards show claims that it was his own choice.
Word had spread that Al Sharpton and Jay-Z made sure that Brown would not be in attendance, but a spokesperson for BET said “the rumors are false.”
Although Chris has not commented on why he was a no-show, he’s been keeping a relatively low profile since his legal troubles began. It had been thought that the young singer might appear to pay tribute to the late Michael Jackson, but instead Brown released a statement in which he said, “I am devastated by this great loss, and I will continue to be humbled and inspired by his legacy.”

A source close to the awards show confirmed to Access that Chris will be performing along with other artists in a tribute to Michael Jackson. It will be the star’s first performance since his altercation with Rihanna in February that landed him in court.
On Friday, BET announced that the awards show would be used to honor Michael, who died suddenly on Thursday – three days after Chris concluded his legal proceedings.
As previously reported by AccessHollywood.com, Chris, a major Michael Jackson fan, contributed vocals to “Better On The Other Side,” a tribute song to Michael released on Friday and also featuring Sean “Diddy” Combs, Boyz II Men, The Game, Polo and Mario Winans.

“Michael Jackson is the reason why I do music and why I am an entertainer,” Chris said to Access in a statement earlier this week. “I am devastated by this great loss, and I will continue to be humbled and inspired by his legacy. My prayers are with his family. Michael will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. He’s the greatest… the best ever. No one will ever be better.”
A rep for Chris did not immediately return calls made by Access.

After hearing the devastating news of Michael Jackson’s death, we went home to prepare to venture to the BET Awards in LA. Anticipating at least a video montage, we know that the BET team is most likely scrambling to include some sort of performance in the King of Pop’s honor. A thought crossed our minds that we found to be quite interesting. Who could really do an MJ tribute that does the world’s greatest entertainer justice? Chris Brown, of course.
However, with the perilous months that Brown has experienced, he is hardly in anyone’s good graces. Celeb or not. But, could a performance of monumental proportions begin to heal the wounds of disappointment and anger that our little golden boy administered in February. Think back to the 2007 World Music Awards where Brown performed an amazing rendition of MJ’s Thriller, along with impromptu performances at previous BET award shows that left us speechless.
There’s no doubt that Brown needs something to catapult him back into the super-stardom that he was once accustomed to. The world is hurting, especially us Black folk that literally grew up on the Jackson Five and MJ hits. We need to see that his legacy lives on. Many people, some indifferent, some disgruntled, claim that they would like to see Brown do a performance at the awards show which airs on Sunday.
